Good to know in Vermont
Since July 1, 2016, Vermont has banned leaves, brush and clean wood from the trash, so yard debris has to be composted or dropped at a facility that takes it.

Can yard waste go in the trash in Vermont?
No. Since 2016, Vermont law bans leaves, yard debris and clean wood from the trash. It has to be composted or taken to a facility that accepts it.
